TCA Telugu Badi Cypress - Graduation Ceremony - 2018 -19

TCA Telugu Badi Cypress celebrated its annual graduation ceremony on May 18th at Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center, Cypress.

It was the 5th year since its inception and for the first time, graduation ceremony was held, at Cypress and specifically for Telugu Badi Cypress students. Due to increase in number of students and multiple requests from parents to reduce the duration and travel time, each center has decided to organize it separately for their respective students.

This strategy paid off as the event recorded maximum number of attendees- nearly 230 (including some future parents and students).  73 out of 76 graduated students attended the ceremony at Cypress center.

The program kicked off at 5:35 pm by welcoming all - the TCA executive board (Ramu Uppalapati -President, Madhu Pemmaraju - Literary coordinator and Treasurer), Telugu Badi Parents students, teachers and future parents.

Sushma Maddineni spoke about the importance of having Telugu Talli statue among our midst and what she stands for. She then gave an insight into program overview and significance of Graduation ceremony

Vinod Udthawar lead the 5 years of TCA Telugu Badi Cypress segment. He spoke about how, when and why he along with Kondal Rao garu started the Cypress center. One of the parents, who has been associated with Cypress center for the past 5 years, Phani Dabbara, spoke at length about the good work and superhuman effort of all the teacher volunteers.

He was followed by Annapurna Pulluri, who has been teaching since its inception and now she is proudly volunteering alongside her daughter and high school student, Eshitha Bangray
Ram Nyshadham, stressed upon the importance of parent involvement. Sushma Maddineni presented the end of the year feedback received through survey from all the parents.

Snacks and juice for kids, tea for adults were served.

Students were then called level wise to receive their certificates and medal.
Students got certificates for course completion, perfect attendance, participation in Ugadi cultural programs and a special recognition certificate and medal in either 1 of 4 categories for Good handwriting (ముత్యాల మూటలు ), Good Telugu speaking skills (తేనెల పలుకులు), Good conduct and behavior (సుగుణశీల) as and Good efforts and perseverance(కృషీవల).

The class pictures with students, pictures of teachers and high school volunteers, TCA Telugu Badi Cypress Family comprising of Teachers, students and parents were taken at the venue. These serve as memories for the years to come!

TCA Executive committee was represented by Madhu Pemmaraju, Literary coordinator. His speech was inspiring and motivating to students and teachers. He gave away Distinguished Honor Roll and Honor Roll certificates to achieving students.  He also gave certificates of appreciation to all teachers and high school volunteers for their invaluable services.

Above and beyond awards were presented to Annapurna Pulluri and Sushma Maddineni for their outstanding services beyond their call duty to TCA Telugu Badi Cypress in last 5 years!
The parent volunteers were very helpful in setting up, arrangements, packing dinner in to go boxes, cleaning up, clicking pictures and taking videos etc.

We have been operating successfully due to the collaboration of parents, teachers and students. Our moto is to promulgate Telugu to the future generations and our efforts go towards brainstorming ways, to reduce the efforts of our students in learning the language.
