Homework for Feb 28 2015

Please check the Telugu Literature page on the blog for extra resources which kids can refer at home. I have added 2 YouTube links which will help kids recognizing and pronouncing the Vowel and Consonants.
I am also adding the Links which will help learn new vocabulary and speaking basic sentences in Telugu.  

NOTE: Refer to the Short Sentences Part 1 link to learn  vocab and sentences.

We expect all the kids to write the date on the home work page and all the parents, Please make sure you check their notebook for classwork.

Prathamika

Writing: 
  • Practice all the alphabets we worked on in the class. ( Refer to the note book)  ** Parents, please ask your child to say the alphabet as they write it.
    Learn the next 5 alphabets.
  • Write the date and all the alphabets learned so far in the notebooks. (Show this to the teacher in next class).
Vocab: 
  • Review body parts, vegetables, fruits, weekdays.
  • Learn words with alphabets క,ఖ,గ,ఘ,చ,ఛ,జ,ఝ
  • Review all the vocabulary words which kids already learned - Parents - Please ask the kids the words in English and ask them to say it in telugu. 
Poem/Story:
  • Watch and Listen to the following story  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn4QN-kvWvg&sns=em  (*Please watch it multiple times to understand the vocabulary and story). 
  •  We will be discussing about the story in next class. 
  •  We will ask simple question about the story
Speaking:

  • Please refer to the Short sentences Part 1 link from Telugu Literature Page to listen and learn simple telugu sentences. Ask kids to note down all the vocabulary words which comes in sentences in their Composition books. - Every week we expect kids to learn few sentences and vocab words from these links. 

Quiz:
  • Writing and identifying alphabets at random - This is very important. Most of the kids write the letters in order but they stumble when they have to write or identify the random letters. We want the parents to work with the kids on this.
  • All the vocabulary words

  • Parents, please check your kids' notebooks for this. 
    ** Home work need to be dated and timed and written legibly on a fresh page in the notebook.

Madhyama 1 (A - Class with More kids, B - Class with 6 kids)
  • Review all the letters especially recognizing and writing randomly. (A &B)
  • Practice writing and recognizing guninthalu for the letters which touches the body.  Identify variations in few of the guninthams (A).
  • Practice writing and recognizing guninthalu for the consonants which do not touch the base (ఘ ప ఫ ష స) - (B)
  • Practice writing words with and without Guninthalu - write and show at least 5 words each  - (A & B)  - write the meaning in English.
  • Review all the Prayers and Padyams which are learned this calander year. (A & B)
  • Practice reading all the sentences from page 130 and 131 (B)
  • Speaking:

In each class we discussed about the Telugu competitions and the importance of participating in such a competitions to get more exposure and to see how other kids doing in varies different categories. Please encourage the kids to participate and make sure to brink them for such programs.
